Mumbai, also called a city of dreams or Mayanagri, stands true to its name. It is anything but ordinary and everything that you can imagine in a movie to be. My stay in Mumbai was about walking a movie for four days and in there, I found those 6 places that made me feel larger than life.

  • Bandra-Worli Sea Link

The most beautiful road I traveled to would undoubtedly be this. With stars shining above and sea waves on the side, you can FEEL the breeze passing through your hair and feel ALIVE. It makes you feel you are right there in the moment, being a part of the universe and the star of your own movie. More like what Sam must have felt in ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ and Aisha in ‘Wake Up Sid’.

  • Prithvi Cafe

Only if I was born and brought up in Mumbai, I would have all my dates right at this place. With art and artists, all around you, you feel like that soon someone will come up with a clapboard and say, ACTION. And all of us will get into our roles, with the only difference that each one will be a protagonist. My experience there was a typical shot from a Bollywood film. I went to the bookstore, talked with the guy who was helping me out with the books for twenty minutes on books and poems and artists, ended up offering him my cake and met a writer who was working on her next work. All this while, listening to some local artists who were playing right outside the theatre. Actors, Emotions, Background music. Can this be any more cinematic?

  • Kala Ghoda Cafe

The cafe reminds of the old and beautiful cafes in movies that people visit for years, ordering their usual food and enjoying the comfort that the place provides. We also find one such woman there, an epitome of elegance. Sitting at her usual spot, she just waved at the waiter, who responded by the nod that seemed to be as old as the place itself. The lady then turned to her book while the waiter brought her order and then indulged in conversations with people sitting across. Felt like witnessing a real life short-film.

  • The Kala Ghoda Fort and the street

How many of us have dreamt of dressing up like our stars or to see them or to peep into their lifestyle? The street outside the Kala Ghoda cafe satisfies some of this curiosity, if not all. In this street, you can live a part of that dream by walking past the street that has the major outlets of all major fashion designers and if lucky, can also see an artist passing by. To add to the beauty, there are numerous works of a variety of artists lining up the street.

  • Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus

I have never seen anything this magnificent and yet commonly used in my country. With its old-age architecture, huge ceilings and beautiful walls, CST is that perfect station used by the directors when they show lovers depart in movies. A true larger than life building, yet standing tall in the midst of the city and used by millions daily, this place is truly incredible. One can just get out of this beautiful building to see more of such beauty, in the midst of all the hustle-bustle the city is famous for.

  • Marine drive

It is crazy to see how small our materialistic world appears to be when we sit in front of the sea. With huge waves washing away the shore, you feel the vibrations within yourself. There are hundreds of people sitting right there, everyone in their own vibe, yet connected. It is a place with thousands of stories: a married couple resolving their problems, a child visiting the seashore for the first time, an old couple reminiscing their youth, a group of teenagers playing their favourite song. Tell me what vibrant is.
