Dear Eowyn,

Theoden will always know your face and so will everyone who sees you. Rohan was lucky to have a warrior like you, a warrior who can kill Nazgul when no man in the Middle-earth can. Our world needs you, a warrior who can kill the most dangerous evil, a rider who can make her way through the gigantic creatures, a nurturer who can take care of others, and a teacher who can produce the best students. You were all of them, our Lady. You fulfilled all your duties and of the others victoriously and in the end, emerged out of the war as a figure that will inspire generations eternally.

My lady, when we saw in your eyes, the love for Aragorn for the first time, we knew it is going to end in despair. Aragorn and Arwen had a long love story and even you knew about it too. Aragorn was an honourable man, an excellent warrior, a brilliant leader, and a faithful lover. These were the qualities that attracted you to him and for the same, he could not be yours. You knew that already, when he told you about her and the jewel. In that moment, we knew, you did not want him, you just wanted him to be healthy and happy. An unconditional love, that only a few of us can do. You were truly happy when he was knighted and Arwen kissed him fiercely. For once again, you made us realise that there can be only one Eowyn. The bravest and the most beautiful of all, Eowyn of Rohan.

It would have been a pleasure to see you sit on the throne, the throne would have wanted it too. An empress, so kind and brave; a queen, so devoted to her kingdom and allies; a ruler, so sympathetic and a woman, so beautiful. You will be remembered by all for these qualities, but only a few will remember your pain and suffering. Of how you lost your parents in the beginning, your brothers in untimely departure and your love in the hands of fate. But, not everyone needs to know all, for all, you will be their hope, the first ray of the light.

Eowyn of the great Rohan, the niece of king Theoden and the daughter of Theodwyn, thank you for blessing Middle-Earth with your presence.

Before you, we all bow.
